Comment: The Role of Lesson Study to Improve Teaching Learning of Mathematics

According the teaching methods is the strategy of the teacher to implement or apply one concept. Some approaches which can be applied by theacher in teaching learning are Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL), Realistics Mathematics Education (RME), Constructivist, Lesson Study, ect, the importance of quality teaching and teacher quality. I support is Lessons Study can be apllied in Indonesia because Lessons Study is a good method in teaching mathematics for getting a good achievement of mathematics. The Lesson Study is innovation as a dimension of teacher profesionalism.
Most in curently being written about critical importance of quality teaching and teacher quality. This can be explained partly by the limited impac of many large-scale, systematics initiatives designed to reform education and school. Another factors is the urgent need to increase the status of teaching and teachers given an ageing profession and teacher shortages. Perhaps the most significant reason, however, is mounting evidence to indicate that good teachers really do “make a difference”. (Comment by: Sabina Ndiung, DIKDAS 2007).
